Over the course of a career that spans more than 40 years now, it is clear that Dr. Gail Weingast was made for a career in medicine, especially the field of radiology. Following medical school, Dr. Weingast completed a two-year pediatrics internship, a two-year residency program in pediatrics and another residency in radiology, all at Colorado General Hospital in Denver. She completed all that, as well as a fellowship in the field of ultrasound, in 1983. Dr. Weingast then completed her post-graduate studies as a radiologist at St. Anthony’s Hospital, also in Denver, over the next year.
It took her a while to get to William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich, Connecticut, but she’s been there for 20 years now and she values every aspect of her career journey. Dr. Gail Weingast practiced in several hospitals in Colorado and New York before she ended up in her current position, as a highly regarded radiology specialist, but in the 20 years since, she has served at that organization’s Chief of Ultrasound and Breast Imaging, from which she has guided her department into its current position as a one of the best medical facilities in the country.
